Since the early 1920’s Pacific Coach Lines and its’ predecessor companies have made a significant contribution to the development of inter-city passenger and freight services in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island regions of British Columbia. “the Early Years” The company founded in 1922 was known primarily as Pacific Stage Lines, with Ivor Neil (1922) at the helm. The company was purchased by BC Electric Rail Company in 1932 (B.C. Motor Transportation) expanding from Vancouver east into the Fraser Valley. BC Ferries “Onboard” 1960 B.C. Ferries established as a Crown Corporation by then premier, W.A.C. Bennett to provide passenger and freight vehicle services between Vancouver Island and the Mainland. Pacific Stage Lines and Vancouver Island Coach Lines pooled their fleets to service the Royal Victorian connection between the capital city, Victoria and Vancouver on the mainland providing “downtown to downtown” CrossWater service. Stopover service providing a link to/from YVR (Vancouver International Airport) enables both Victoria & Vancouver Island residents and visitors from the around the world easy and convenient access to “ the Island”.
